I would love for all of these players to come back at reasonable deals but something has to get addressed to account for health, new running back contracts, and age. I don’t want that to happen unless there is hope of a good coach and a quarterback of the future. Maybe we have Carr for one year and get rid of Allen and Carr and go full rebuild. It might be a hard offseason that ultimately leads to the Saints self destructing but addressing some our salary cap issues. I would hope he could stay but at $12 million and the ascendency of Howden I think his days are numbered. Tyrann Mathieu like Jordan is a fan favorite but he has clearly lost speed and is a luxury. I think the fans still love Thomas when he’s right but if he wants to go play for Sean Payton I doubt the Saints would put up much of a fight with Olave, Shaheed, and A.T. Michael Thomas can still play but keeps getting hurt. It is a tough to ponder a world where Peat is a lower health risk than Ramczyk. I am not sure what you do but after years of seeing Peat overpaid and taking a pay cut to stay in 2023. I don’t think it is a good idea but drafting Adebo and Taylor are two of Dennis Allen’s best finds in the draft.Īndrus Peat had exceptional value to help salvage the tackle position after the Penning debacle. Marshon Lattimore is still our best defensive player but the future of having Adebo and Taylor be our starters and deserving of contracts makes Lattimore a trade candidate and a source of cap savings. It is just way too high for what we are getting and frankly we need a new coach to use him properly. Kamara has the second highest running back in the year behind McCaffrey because those were the last two big running back deals with a $15 apy ahead of Jonathan Taylor’s $14 apy. The fan base needs to consider that reality and that we need to replace him and his contract is a giant problem as our second highest contract for a player that cannot get on the field and when he does he is no longer a top tackle.Īlvin Kamara needs to rework his deal to get closer to the market. Ramczyk may never be the pro bowl level player again and may retire. He was hurt all year and the hope is that he can get healthy to wrap up his hall of fame career in New Orleans but it is questionable to think it was a good decision to extend Jordan given we have the worst cap in the league and the oldest roster. If we hadn’t extended Jordan the discussion would be do we let him walk. Young talented and not paid yet: Chis Olave $5.2 m, Payton Turner $3.9 m, Alonte Taylor $1.9 m, Pete Werner $1.8 m, Paulson Adebo $1.6 m, Rasheed Shaheed 0.4 m Combo of big cap number and– in decline who Ryan Ramczyk $27 m age 29, Cameron Jordan $23 m age 34, Alvin Kamara $18 m age 28, Marshon Lattimore $14.6m age 27, Andrus Peat $13.6 m age 30, Michael Thomas $12.4 m age 30, Tyrann Mathieu $12m age 31, Marcus Maye $9 m age 30,
